Terms of engagement
Understand how accounting engagements, scope and fees are agreed.
Before we start
This page describes the engagement process. Work begins only after the service scope, fees, responsibilities and applicable terms are agreed in writing and required checks are completed.
Scope and fees
Your engagement identifies included services, reporting periods, deliverables, software, filing responsibilities and payment arrangements. Extra work requires a separate agreement. Illustrative calculator figures are not an offer or binding fee.
Your responsibilities
Provide complete and accurate records within the agreed timetable, respond to queries and review work requiring your approval. Tell us about changes affecting your business or deadlines.
Filing and authority
Submission to HMRC or Companies House depends on the agreed scope, suitable records, required authorisations and approval. Tax liabilities and statutory duties remain your responsibility.
Confidentiality and records
Confidentiality, record retention, data protection, complaints, termination and any limitations of liability must be set out in the final engagement documents. Contact us to request those documents before engaging.
Website information
Guides provide general information and may not cover all circumstances. Request advice specific to your position before making a decision.
